Description
The Cybele Palace, better known as the Palace of Communication (its name until 2011) is one of Madrid's most famous and important landmarks. It has been the Madrid City Hall since 2007; before that it was home to the Postal and Telegraphic Museum. It dominates views of the Plaza de Cibeles, named after the goddess Cybele. The Cybele Fountain in the centre of the plaza shows the goddess sitting on a chariot pulled by two lions. The Plaza de Cibeles was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in July 2021 along with the famous Paseo del Prado boulevard, of which the Plaza marks the northern end.
