Description
The glaciers of Mt Huayna Potosi (6088m / 19,975ft) glow with a rosy hue just as the sun rises. The peak is one of the most popular climbs in Bolivia and by mountaineering standards a relatively non technical 6000m peak. The right hand or North Peak is the highest and most often climbed, the South Peak is slightly lower (5960m / 19,550ft) but more challenging and is usually climbed via the steeper French Route / Ruta Frances directly up the ice face. It is part of the Cordillera Real range and easily reached from the capital La Paz.
