Cornwall in south west England was home to one of Europe's largest mining industries in the 19th century; tin was a very important mineral. The remains of mine workings dot many parts of the countryside. These are the ruins of the Prince of Wales engine house, once part of the Phoenix United Mine near Minions on Bodmin Moor.
