Description
The 1st Pennsylvania Cavalry Regiment monument, one of many monuments along Cemetery Ridge / Hancock Avenue on the Gettysburg Battlefield site, with a historic red barn adding a dash of colour in the background. Cemetery Ridge was part of the Union Army's main defensive line on days 2 and 3 of the battle. This image was taken close to the so called High Water Mark, the name given to the most advanced point reached by the Confederate Army. This happened during an infantry attack known as Pickett's Charge on day 3 of the battle.
