Description
The granite towers of Patagonia can be awe inspiring. It had been grey and wet for the day hike in to Laguna Torre, and heavy rain on the tent kept me awake for most of the night. It eased towards dawn and the resulting sunrise with Cerro Torre (3102m / 10, 175ft) perfectly reflected in Laguna Torre made getting out of the tent in damp clothes more than worth it! Within a couple of hours the scene had fogged out completely. The peak is one of the highlights of the Los Glaciares National Park, which was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1981.

Goodness....the gold appearance of the granite towers. In New Mexico, the Spaniards would see reflections of gold and search until they found that gold. Stunning photo! FLP
James Brunker replied:
The Spanish did plenty of that when they conquered the Inca and Aztec empires as well Debby. They never made it down as far as Patagonia though
