Description
Dramatic clouds over the foothills of the Andes, seen from the Atacama Desert in northern Chile. The Atacama stretches for approx. 1000km between the Pacific Ocean and the Andes and continues north along much of the Peruvian coast as well. It is also the world's driest and probably oldest desert, geological research suggests the region has been continuously arid for many millions of years.

Amazing capture over this other-worldly desert scape! NASA's testing ground as well!
James Brunker replied:
Thank you Neal! Yes, NASA have done quite a lot of testing in both the Atacama Desert and Puna. Some of the world's biggest astonomical observatories are there too
