Description
Acotango is a 6052 metres / 19,856 ft high stratovolcano that is part of the Kimsa Chata / Quimsa Chata (3 peaks in Aymara) group on the Bolivia / Chile border. The more distant peak to its left is Umurata (5730m /18,799 ft). Acotango itself is most often climbed from the Bolivian side of the border where the access is easier. This view was taken from the flanks of the neighbouring Guallatiri volcano in Lauca National Park, Chile, which is also part of the Lauca Biosphere Reserve, recognised by UNESCO in 1981.
