Description
Nothofagus or southern beech trees change colour during autumn in Huerquehue National Park in Chile's beautiful Lake District region. The nothofagus is a family of trees found southern Chile and Argentina and also Australasia. They often grow in harsh, thin soils and have small tough serrated leaves to withstand the strong winds that often blow over the mountains from the Pacific. The mountain in the far distance is the Lanin volcano on the Chile Argentina border.
