Description
In the late 19th century Iquique in northern Chile was one of the most important ports in South America, thanks to the nitrate mining boom in the nearby Atacama Desert. The period wooden mansions on Baquedano Street are a legacy from the period and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The old part of the city is full of colourful wooden buildings and doors, very photogenic!
