Description
The Beagle 1 trawler moored off its home port of Ushuaia in the Beagle Channel in the far south of Argentina. The Beagle Channel lies to the south of Big Island / Isla Grande de Tierra del Fuego and separates it from several smaller islands to the south (which are in Chile, visible in the background). It is named after the ship HMS Beagle, whose first voyage surveying the coasts of the southern part of South America lasted from 1826 to 1830.
