Description
Detail of some of the towers and spires of the Palace of Westminster, also known as the Houses of Parliament. The Elizabeth Tower, usually known as Big Ben, houses the famous Great Clock of Westminster. Big Ben is actually the nickname of the largest bell inside the tower. The current building was built between 1840 and 1870 in the Gothic Revival style after a fire in 1834 destroyed most of the original Palace (parts of which dated from the 11th century).
