Description
There are around 120 species of Bomarea, most of which are found in the cloud forests of the Andes Mountains; some also occur in similar habitats in Central America. Most have clusters of red / orange tubular flowers, climb like vines trailing through the forest vegetation and resupinate leaves (ones which twist from the base, taking an upside-down position on the stems). This photo was taken in the forests of Cotapata National Park in Bolivia's subtropical Yungas region.
