Description
These boiling mud pools or mudpots generated a fascinating and ever changing variety of patterns, depending on the viscosity of the mud. They are part of the Sol de Manana geothermal field, which is located at an altitude of nearly 5000m / 16,400ft in southwest Bolivia. The area contains dozens of mudpots as well as fumaroles and is part of the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve (Reserva Nacional de Fauna Andina Eduardo Abaroa in Spanish, often referred to locally by its Spanish acronym REA).
