Description
Giant Echinopsis atacamensis (pasacana subspecies) cacti silhouetted against the sun shortly before sunset on Incahuasi Island in the middle of the Salar de Uyuni in south west Bolivia. The Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat, covering 10,582 square km / 4,086 square miles. These cacti (which are found in Bolivia and northern Argentina) grow at only approx 1cm a year in the cold dry climate of the high Andean altiplano, the tallest are over 10m high and 1000 years old....
