Description
A typical South American street scene showing Aymara women at a colorful stall selling chilis and spices in La Paz, Bolivia. Street markets are typical of Latin America and add plenty of character and colour to the towns and cities. Much of La Paz at first sight appears to be one giant, sprawling street market and there are many areas that are full of fresh produce from the surrounding countryside and across the country. The pile of large orange chilis are Capsicum baccatum, the species known as ajis in Spanish and often used in especially Peruvian and Bolivian cuisine. The bags to their right in front of the seller are full of varieties of powdered chilis.
