Description
Bolivia's Oruro carnival is one of the most famous festivals in South America and a UNESCO registered cultural heritage event. The Diablada shown here is probably Bolivia's most famous dance and symbolises the battle between good and evil. Dance groups feature hundreds of devils in spectacular masks and costumes, these are female china supay devils. The event is well worth a visit if you get the opportunity, the main parades feature thousands of dancers in varying and colourful costumes and plenty of noise from the accompanying bands; sights and sounds you are unlikely to forget in a hurry!
