Description
There are over 70 species of Heliconiini or Longwing butterflies found in the neotropics. All can have a very wide regional range of variation in colour and patterns. The Common Longwing butterfly (Heliconius erato) is the commonest of the family, at least 29 regional colour forms have been recorded.
