Description
The Virgen de Belen (also called Mamacha Belen, the patron saint of Cusco) is carried past the cathedral during the processions for Corpus Christi in Cusco, Peru. Corpus Christi (The Body of Christ) is one of the most important dates in the Catholic calendar. The celebrations in Cusco are some of the largest in Latin America, 15 saints are carried from their churches throughout the city to the cathedral on the central Plaza de Armas for further parades and masses. The base of the figure is made of silver.
