Description
Cotasaya is a tiny semi abandoned village high in the Chile altiplano in the Tarapaca Region close to the border crossing with Bolivia at Colchane. These quaint little rustic churches are typical of villages in the altiplano regions and date from the 17th and 18th centuries. Chilean authorities have recently been registering and restoring a large number of them. This one had only recently been finished judging by the fresh white paint and bright red patterns.

What an unusual find!
James Brunker replied:
There's loads of quaint little churches like this dotted through the high altiplano of Bolivia and northern Chile. Some in much better repair than others, this one has been recently restored
