Description
A tourist boat crossing the blue waters of Lake Titicaca passes a rustic harbor with local fishing boats on the shore of Taquile Island (a 3 hour boat trip from the port of Puno) in the Peruvian side of the lake. Lake Titicaca is said to be the worlds highest navigable lake and is also the 14th largest by volume. It is shared by Peru and Bolivia, covers an area of 8,372 sq km / 3,232 sq miles, measures approx 190 x 80km / 118 x 50 miles and lies at an altitude of 3810m / 12,500ft above sea level.
