Description
First of a mini series of wonderful cloud formations above Mt Huayna Potosi (6088m / 19,975ft), formed by warm air from the tropical lowlands rising up the eastern side of the peak shortly before sunrise. Huayna Potosi is in the Cordillera Real range and one of the most popular climbs in Bolivia, by mountaineering standards it is a relatively non technical 6000m peak. To the east of the peak the Zongo Valley drops steeply to the subtropical Yungas region and then the Amazon lowlands, a characteristic of the central Andes of especially Peru and Bolivia.
