A large and perfectly formed dust devil crosses the road in the Bolivian altiplano. This was taken as I was driving to Uyuni in the southwest of the country; the area is very flat and open and dust storms and short lived devils are quite common. On this particular day there was no wind at all which is pretty unusual; as a result there were more devils than normal and they hung around for quite a while before dissipating. This one was particularly large, superbly formed and moving slowly across the road not far ahead, by far the closest and best view I've ever had of one!

WOW, that's a good one. We see these a lot here in Arizona. Good shot coming at you...sort of stops you in your tracks. Congratulations on your feature.
James Brunker replied:
Thank you Adrienne! They're quite common here too but at high altitude getting the right combo of enough heat and no wind for big ones that last a while is unusual. Most disappear quite quickly
