Description
High rise buildings poke through a thick layer of early morning fog covering the city centre of La Paz, Bolivia. The city is built in a large valley / canyon with several side valleys and there is an altitude difference of around 1,000m / 3,300ft between the highest and lowest points of the city. The peak in the right background is Mt Illimani (6439m / 21,125ft), Bolivia's second highest mountain and symbol of the city. If the climate conditions are suitable warm moist air from the tropical lowlands on the other side of the Andes mountains can rise up into the lower part of the city and further, creating some surreal effects.
