Description
Salt cones on the edge of the Salar de Uyuni in shallow water reflecting a spectacular sunset. The Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat, covering 10,582 square km / 4,086 square miles in south west Bolivia at an altitude of 3656m / 12,000ft. These salt cones are near Colchani village on the shore of the Salar and have been made by the villagers. They are left there for several days in the strong sun so the salt dries out; later they will be collected in trucks and taken to the village to be processed and finally sold as cooking salt throughout Bolivia.
