Description
Tenterden in south East England has a railway history going back to the mid 1800s, services were operated by various private companies. It remained an independent railway rather than becoming part of the Southern Railway when the "Big Four" railway companies were formed in 1923 and services continued until the line was finally closed in 1970. The line was reopened by steam enthusiasts in 1974 as the historic preserved Kent and East Sussex Railway (its operating name in the first half of the 20th century) and it is now a popular tourist attraction in the region. These fine red fire buckets are among the many original features of the restored station building.
