Description
Taquile Island is located in the Peruvian part of Lake Titicaca, a 3-hour boat ride from Puno. Its inhabitants speak Quechua, are famous for their weaving and textiles and still strongly preserve their traditional way of life. Girls and single young women traditionally wear black shawls covering their heads.
