Description
The late afternoon sun lights up a ridge of white granite rocks on the Atlantic coast of northern Portugal at Gelfa. I'd previously only hiked along this rocky stretch of coast and headlands at high tide when these rocks were under water. At low tide a wonderful variety of rocky formations and rock pools appeared, offering plenty of interesting foreground options. Among the darker rocks were quite a number of white granite boulders, which caught the golden light of the late afternoon sun beautifully. The town in the mist / haze in the mid distance is the small beach resort of Vila Praia de Ancora. The conical peak in the far distance is the 341m / 1,119ft high Cerro Santa Tecla (Santa Trega in the Galician / Gallego language) across the Spanish border in Galicia.
