Description
View of one of the channels of the Great Falls on the Potomac River that separates Olmsted Island from the mainland on the Maryland side of the river near Washington DC, which is part of the C & O Canal National Historical Park. Olmsted Island is noted as being one of the best places to see a bedrock terrace forest, a rare and fragile ecosystem that supports threatened and endangered plant species.
