Description
A twilight view of part of the Guggenheim Museum building in Bilbao, Basque Country, Spain. Arguably one of the most famous examples of modern architecture, it was designed by Canadian-American architect Frank Gehry and inaugurated on 18 October 1997. The museum was built as part of a Bilbao city regeneration project and very quickly became a major tourist attraction. The stainless steel spheres are a sculpture by Indian artist Anish Kapoor called Tall Tree And The Eye. The red arch in the centre background is the La Salve Bridge, opened in 1972 and crossing the Ria de Bilbao 23.5m / 76ft above the River Nervion.
