Description
Cloud drifts around the glaciers and summits of Mt Huayna Potosi (6088m / 19,975ft). The peak is one of the most popular climbs in Bolivia and by mountaineering standards a relatively non technical 6000m peak. (the right hand or north peak is the highest and most often climbed). The right hand or North Peak (almost hidden in the cloud) is the highest and most often climbed; the South Peak (the main one in this image, 5960m / 19,550ft) is slightly lower but more challenging and is usually climbed via the steeper French Route / Ruta Frances directly up the ice face. Bottom right is the stone refuge at the high camp, more tents can be seen on the rocky ridge to its left below the peak. The mountain is part of the Cordillera Real range and easily reached from the capital La Paz.
