Description
This beautiful figure of a hunter with a bow and arrow is one of 400+ petroglyphs that have been described at Ofragía, not far from Codpa in the Arica and Parinacota Region XV of northern Chile. They are thought to date from the Late Intermediate Period (1000-1400AD) though some may be older. The site was on an important ancient trade route and also seems to have been of ceremonial importance. This image also shows a camelid, probably a guanaco (a large wild relative of the llama); they were once very common in the region and can still be seen today.
50% of all profits from sales of this image will be donated to the Bolivian Rock Art Research Society SIARB (Sociedad de Investigación del Arte Rupestre de Bolivia). SIARB is a private organisation dedicated to the investigation, recording, protection and conservation of rock paintings and petroglyphs in Bolivia and neighbouring countries.
