Description
The Johns Hopkins Monument outside the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. Johns Hopkins (1795 - 1873) was an American entrepreneur, abolitionist and philanthropist who was born in Maryland and spent much of his life in Baltimore. His bequests founded numerous institutions which bear his name; the Johns Hopkins Hospital and Johns Hopkins University are the most famous.
