Description
The Salar de Uyuni in south west Bolivia is the world's largest salt flat, covering 10,582 square km / 4,086 square miles. Its huge size and the thin dry air at high altitude (3656m / 12,000ft) can make for wonderfully pure colours (especially oranges, deep blues and mauves) during sunsets, sunrises and twilights, well worth braving the cold for! When the Salar floods in the rainy season the pools of water in depressions in the surface reflect the sky making surreal abstract patterns.........
