Description
A tinku dancer refuels while he dances at the Gran Poder festival in La Paz, Bolivia. The festival is the biggest in the city and one of the biggest in the country, tens of thousands of dancers and musicians take part in the parades. The tinkus is a dance from the Potosi region of Bolivia, traditionally associated with ritual fights that used to take place (and still do in some areas) between indigenous communites. More modern versions of the dances are some of the most spectacular, dynamic and colourful in the country but without the fighting.
