Spiritual leaders pray at a cross before making a pilgrimage to the glaciers during the the Qoyllur Riti (which means Snow Star in the Quechua language) festival in Peru. During the event thousands of people make a pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of the Lord of Qoyllur Riti in the high Andes in Peru's Cusco region, a church located in a valley at 4700m / approx 15,500ft at the foot of the sacred Sinak'ara mountain. The festival was added to the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity List in 2011.
