Description
A view across ridges and valleys on the edge of the altiplano to Mt Illimani (6439m / 21,125ft) after an overnight winter snowfall. This distinctive triple peaked mountain (it actually has 5 main peaks) is Bolivia's second highest mountain and part of the Cordillera Real range. Fresh snow (during the winter dryer season the result of cold fronts) transforms the altiplano grasslands into a harsh yet strangely beautiful landscape; if the clouds clear the snow on the lower ground quickly disappears in the sun.
