Description
Alpacas (Vicugna pacos) are one of South America's 2 domestic camelids (the llama is the other) and closely related to camels. They are common throughout the Andes and bred mainly for their fine, soft wool (baby alpaca wool is the softests and most sort after); alpaca jumpers, clothing and other products are popular in many countries. In high altitude regions where agriculture is difficult camelids are often the mainstay of the rural economy. Their facial expressions are invariably cute and often comical!
