Description
A detail of the facade of a typical historic house in Frederick, Maryland. I found Frederick a fascinating town to wander around with all sorts of interesting and varied old doors, windows and facades. This one had a wonderful cast / wrought iron plant pot outside!

This would also be something you would see in the French Quarter in New Orleans.Frederick has old world charm and character. As a public historian, there is lots to explore and photograph in this region of Maryland. I would suggest visiting the battlefields of Antietam (Sharpsburg) and Monocacy if you get a chance in the future. The landscape at Antietam is very much the same as it was at the time of the battle in 1862. Nice capture of this very unusual wrought iron planter!
James Brunker replied:
Many thanks for the info Lesley! Antietam has been on my "to visit" list for my next Maryland visit (whenever that might be) for some time now. Lots of interesting places and history in that area I agree!

Very nice! Would have liked to have spent a bit more time there, plenty of character!
