Description
A view across the Siloli Desert to colourful volcanic peaks including Cerro Incaliri in southwest Bolivia. The Siloli Desert is an incredibly arid high plateau surrounded by volcanos, the peaks in this image are on the border with Chile. It always amazes me how such a barren landscape can have such a remarkable and varied range of colours, patterns and formations, the earth tones in this scene were wonderful in the right light. The area is part of the Eduardo Avaroa Andean Fauna National Reserve (Reserva Nacional de Fauna Andina Eduardo Abaroa in Spanish, often referred to locally by its Spanish acronym REA) and on the route of the popular 3 day 4x4 tours between Uyuni and San Pedro de Atacama (in Chile).
