Description
The magnificent arch of the Milky Way above the Payachatas volcanos (just left of centre, below the Galactic Center) and othe rpeaks that form the Bolivia / Chile border. Payachatas means "twin" in the Aymara language, the peaks are individually Parinacota (L, 6342m / 20,805ft) and Pomerape (R, 6282 m / 20,610ft). The lights on the far left are the Bolivian border village of Tambo Quemado and trucks on the highway which connects Bolivia and northern Chile. This panoramic image was made of 9 images stitched together and was taken from Bolivia's Sajama National Park.
