Description
A panoramic image made by stitching 7 vertical shots of Baltimore Beach (or Rash Field, the volleyball courts in the foreground) and Inner Harbor, seen from Federal Hill. Notable buildings on the left hand side of the image include (L to R): the Transamerica Tower (the tallest in the city), 100 East Pratt Street (originally the I.B.M. Building), Renaissance Harborplace Hotel and Lupin Pharmaceuticals complex and the Baltimore World Trade Center. In the center is the National Aquarium (with the blue wave-like lights), to its right the chimneys of the former Pratt Street Power Plant and part of the Institute of Marine and Environmental Technology (IMET, the illuminated white structure). The mast in the right foreground is a monument to the "Pride of Baltimore", a reproduction of a typical 19th-century Baltimore clipper that was launched in 1977 and lost at sea on May 14 1986.
