Description
The garden pansy is a flowering hybrid plant popular in gardens. It is derived by hybridization from several species of the genus Viola, especially Viola tricolor, a wildflower of Europe and western Asia known as heartsease. The first hybrids were produced in the early years of the 19th century in England and they quickly became very popular in gardens and parks.
