Description
A pair of blue-fronted amazons (Amazona aestiva aestiva, also called a turquoise-fronted amazon or turquoise-fronted parrot) catch up on the day's gossip. It is a common parrot species in tropical southern South America with two main subspecies. This is the Brazilian subspecies (with a red wing shoulder); the other main subspecies has a yellow shoulder and is found in Bolivia, Paraguay and Argentina as well as Brazil. The two subspecies can interbreed where their ranges overlap; they are also often kept as pets.
