The Peruvian pelican (Pelecanus thagus) is one of the most beautiful pelicans (especially when in breeding plumage such as here) and common along the coasts of Peru and Chile. It used to be classed as a subspecies of the smaller brown pelican (Pelecanus occidentalis).
