Description
Panpipe musicians wearing brightly colored pink and red traditional dress take part in dance parades for the Virgen de la Candelaria festival in Puno (on the shores of Lake Titicaca), Peru. One of Peru's largest festivals, it takes place at the start of February. The celebrations last for nearly 2 weeks and many groups from villages in the region take part in the dance parades. This Ayarachis dance group come from the village of Cuyocuyo in the far north of the Puno Region. The festival was added to the UNESCO's List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in November 2014.
