Description
Close up of the patterns formed by the long, spiky leaves at the base of the Puya raimondii plant, the world's largest bromeliad. Also called Queen of the Andes, it is one of the most spectacular plants found in the Andes and produces a flower spike that is often 9-10m high, with more than three thousand flowers and six million seeds. It is considered an endangered species, and is only found at several high altitude sites in Peru and a few in Bolivia.
