Description
This superb rainbow appeared over Baltimore's Inner Harbor after a violent thunderstorm rolled up the nearby Chesapeake Bay. Trying to get some lightning shots as the storm passed proved unsuccessful, the rainbow made for a fine bonus alternative! The former Pratt Street Power Plant is one of several historic buildings in the Inner Harbor area. It was originally built between 1900 and 1909 to provide power for the United Railways and Electric Company. It has since been redeveloped and currently houses a variety of businesses, including a Hard Rock Cafe and Barnes and Noble. Also in the image is the United States lightship Chesapeake (LV-116) which served from 1930-1970 and is now part of the Historic Ships of Baltimore museum.
