Description
A European herring gull (Larus argentatus) gives the phrase "robbing Peter to pay Paul" a new meaning in the fish market in Hastings, an ancient port town (it was one of the original Cinque Ports) in East Sussex in southeast England........! This image was taken in the Old Town, which is next to the beach area from which the fishermen operate and contains many fishing related businesses, which have often been run by families for generations. Herring gulls are a common large gull on the coasts of Europe and the commonest of the larger gulls in the UK, where they are often a noisy presence and sometimes a nuisance in seaside towns.
