Description
These impressive red sandstone rock formations are some of many found in Talampaya National Park in La Rioja Province, Argentina. Talampaya means Dry River of the Tala in Quechua, and as well as the stunning scenery is noted for evidence of indigenous occupation, including petroglyphs and stone mortars. It was designated a National Park in 1997 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2000.
