Description
A dog rose plant (Rosa canina) grown from the ruins of Bayham Abbey, on the border of Kent and East Sussex between Tunbridge Wells and Lamberhurst in southeast England. The abbey was founded in the early 13th century by Premonstratensian monks and suppressed by Cardinal Wolsey in 1525 to fund two new colleges he planned to build. Dog roses are native to Europe and western Asia, the fruit (called rose hips) have a wide range of culinary uses.
